ARTIST STATEMENT

Abstraction is universal in its potential to express and give meaning. The qualities and phenomenological properties of line, form, and colour can be used to communicate the ineffable. 

Linda's work is based on internal references and ideas; her painting is a visual expression of this process. She starts with an idea or intention then decisions about formal elements allow her to explore the possibilities. Linda focuses on creating order, exploring form, space, colour, and in her most recent works, surface treatment. The tactile relief speaks to both the history and memory of making the painting and invites the viewer in. Linda's compositions are the result of balancing forms that have both a singular and connected quality.

For Linda, focusing solely on abstraction since 2008 has been a revelatory journey. Knowing herself through art contributes to her happiness and sense of fulfillment. She seeks creative insight and strives to make works that engage.
